Award winning NGO Seven Sisters Development Assistance (SeSTA) works with more than 32,000 families in 470 far flung villages spread across 14 districts in three States (Assam, Meghalaya and Tripura) through 3000 Self Help Groups (SHGs). SeSTA has 23 professional field teams at the block level in all the working districts. SeSTA collectivizes women to form Self Help Groups (SHGs), builds their capabilities and strengthens livelihood systems to alleviate mass poverty in these far-flung villages. Through its work on agriculture interventions in food crop and vegetable crops, Natural Resources Management and intensification and diversification of other livelihoods portfolio like goat rearing, piggery, fisheries, mushroom cultivation etc. SeSTA has addressed the issues of economic disempowerment and discrimination in far flung villages of the NE. Despite being a new entity, SeSTA is today supported by renowned agencies in the development spaces including APPI, Tata Trusts, Indigo, NABARD etc. It is also the technical support partner for State Rural Livelihoods Mission in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Mizoram apart from being a direct engagement partner in Assam and Tripura. The organization has won the India Development Marketplace Award 2014 by World Bank and Chief Minister’s Best Action Award for Community Development. SeSTA has also won the prestigious Polestar award in the Social Impact category for the year 2019.
